DYMNC2011
History of the Deaf Youth Ministries National Convention: DeafYouth Ministries (DYM) was established in 2000 by Bob and Kathy Ayres specifically for ministry with deaf and hard of hearing teenagers and operated under the program name, Deaf Teen Quest. Our first task was to call together a national meeting in February of 2001 (at the time called "symposium"), for those who "love Jesus and love Deaf teenagers" across the denominational spectrum. DeafYouth Ministries was the only national, interdenominational ministry specifically established for ministry with deaf and hard of hearing young people. In January of 2008, Deaf Teen Quest became the official ministry of Youth For Christ/USA and all the tasks of DeafYouth Ministries have now been moved into YFC/USA. DeafYouth Ministries no longer operates as a separate 501(C)3 non-profit ministry as of June 30, 2011. YFC Deaf Teen Quest still provides training, materials and summer programs as a national resource for ministry with deaf and hard of hearing young people.

Established in 2000 by Bob and Kathy Ayres, Deaf Teen Quest is an outreach ministry built on teams of caring Christian adults reaching unchurched deaf and hard of hearing teenagers through "fun, friendship, fellowship, faith." Since January 2008, Deaf Teen Quest is a ministry of Youth for Christ/USA. There are currently fourteen YFC Deaf Teen Quest ministries across the country and more in the process of being established.
